ARABIC–HISTORY OF QURA’NIC SCIENCES IN INDIAN SUBCONTINENT AND ITS DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The Noble Qur'an is an enduring miracle that Allah has bestowed upon His Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) with the promise of its preservation. Since its (the Quranic) revelation in Arabic Language, the scholars throughout history have been studying Holy Quran and its sciences from all perspectives in different languages. With the expansion of the circle of Islamic states, Muslims were in need to understand the teachings of the Quran. As the sciences of Quran (Uloom-ul-Quran) are a specialized subject, so it is given importance. The history of serving Qur'an Kareem in the sub-continent is a witness of valuable and glorified efforts. The number of interpretations and translations of the meanings of the Holy Quran in Urdu language has been reached to more than 700. In the foundation stage Quranic Sciences in the Indian subcontinent was covered in the prefaces and introductions of Tafaseer, but later on in the tenth and eleventh Hijari the specialized books were written by in Urdu and other languages as the Contribution of the family of Shah Wali-Ullah Dihlavi was leading in this regard. Along with historical journey of the Quranic Sciences, the article also presented brief introduction of 28 comprehensive books of Quranic Sciences written in Urdu Language till the starting of 21st century.
